This week California’s Clean Truck Check (CTC) program began requiring vehicles to comply with the Remote Emission Monitoring Devices (REMD) to operate legally in the State.  The devices monitor exhaust emissions and flag potential high emitters that may need to be tested.  The program is under  the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and is the second phase of the check; which started in October 2023.  A third phase is scheduled to begin later this year, which will include periodic emissions testing.

According to Clean Truck Check, this program is projected to prevent 7,500 deaths, 2,500 hospital visits, 3,500 emergency visits and save $76.2 billion in health benefits by 2050.  For more information on the program or requirements, visit https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/our-work/programs/CTC.  The page hosts frequently asked questions, recorded webinars, and fact sheets.  A CTC-VIS (Vehicle Inspection System) Reporting Training Webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th.  Register and submit questions here: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_mccMMYn8Q360nPUAvWZKEg#/registration
