CVSA’s 2022 North American Inspectors Championship

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) announced this week the results of the NAIC – North American Inspectors Championship, including the Grand Champion.  Senior Police Officer Michael Trautwein of the Houston Police Department earned the prestigious Jimmy K. Ammons Grand Champion Award; the highest honor for a commercial vehicle roadside inspector.

Trautwein has been a dedicated officer of the HPD for over 30 years, serving in Traffic Enforcement and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Units.  This year he took second place in the Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods and Cargo Tank / Bulk Packagings Inspection, first place in the Level V Passenger Carrier Vehicle Inspection, second place in the Level I Inspection and the High Points United States Award.

Congratulations to Senior Officer Trautwein and all of the Houston Police Department.  His win is only the second time in NAIC history that a local member has won Grand Champion; both wins coming from Houston PD.  His success is a reflection of the dedication the department has to road safety!
