FMCSA Extends Emergency Declaration

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has extended its Emergency Declaration through June 14, 2020, or until the cancellation of the presidential COVID-19 national emergency declaration.  Originally, this declaration was supposed to end on May 15 but has been expanded because we are still in a national emergency.

The declaration declares motor carriers and drivers in direct assistance of COVID-19 are receiving emergency relief from Parts 390 to 399 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The exemption is from Parts 390 through 399, however, the exemption specifically excludes Part 382 (controlled substances and alcohol use and testing requirements), Part 383 (commercial driver’s license requirements), Part 387 (financial responsibility requirements), Parts 100-180 (hazardous material regulations), and applicable vehicle size and weight requirements.
