Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Today is a celebration of culture, history, and community; recognized by many through gatherings, food, and shared traditions.

As celebrations take place, it’s also a good reminder for all of us in and around the transportation industry to keep safety top of mind. Increased travel, busy roadways, and evening events can create added risk if we’re not paying attention.

Whether you’re behind the wheel or enjoying time with others, a little planning goes a long way.

From all of us at Lee Trans, we wish you a safe and enjoyable Cinco de Mayo.

During Peace Officers Memorial Day and National Police Week, we pause to recognize and honor the men and women who serve to protect our communities and roadways.

Their presence plays a vital role in maintaining safety across our transportation networks – from roadside inspections to incident response and traffic enforcement. Their commitment, often carried out behind the scenes, helps ensure that drivers, carriers, and the public all arrive safely.

We are grateful for their service, their sacrifice, and their continued dedication to keeping our roads safe.

From all of us at Lee Trans, we extend our sincere appreciation during this week of recognition.

National Moving Month

May marks National Moving Month, the start of the busiest season for household goods carriers and professional movers across the country.

This time of year highlights the essential role movers play in safely transporting not just belongings, but the milestones and transitions that come with them. Organizations like the Southwest Movers Association help support these professionals through advocacy, education, and industry standards that promote safety and accountability.

As activity increases on the roadways, it’s also a reminder of the importance of proper planning, equipment readiness, and driver awareness; especially in residential areas and high-traffic corridors.

At Lee Trans, we’re proud to support the carriers who keep life moving forward, safely and responsibly.

Earlier this month our Vehicle Services team joined to celebrate our newest member of the Lee Trans family! Lucy Kartye of our Licensing & Permitting team is anxiously awaiting baby Eli and we celebrated them both with a sprinkle of love and support. Congratulations Lucy!

Collaboration across the fleet industry plays a critical role in keeping operations efficient and compliant. We’re proud to work alongside partners like Wheels; supporting shared clients with solutions that keep drivers on the road and businesses moving forward.

Beyond day-to-day operations, these partnerships create opportunities to connect, share insight, and strengthen the networks that support our industry. We’re looking forward to doing just that at NPTC this May!

From our President; Jackie Polk, CTP:

I would like to take a moment to highlight our Employee of the Month, Dakota Greenville. As our Systems Engineer, Dakota is truly the driving force behind our software development efforts and is always thinking ahead about how we can improve both our internal productivity and our clients’ experience. Since returning to the company three years ago, Dakota has played a key role in strengthening our platforms and the impact of his work is felt across the organization. He brings tremendous value to our team and I am incredibly grateful to have him.

Earth Day

Today is #EarthDay! The 56th anniversary of this celebration highlights a shift towards renewable energy, global collective action and protection of the environment.

Hidden Fleet Spotlight: Construction & Equipment Hauling

Construction and equipment hauling fleets play a critical role in keeping projects moving but they don’t always recognize when their operations fall under DOT oversight. From hauling machinery to transporting materials between job sites, many of these vehicles meet federal thresholds for regulated commercial vehicles, sometimes without teams realizing it.

Unlike traditional trucking operations, construction fleets operate in constantly changing environments. Job sites shift, routes vary, and drivers often wear multiple hats throughout the day. With National Work Zone Awareness Week underway, it’s an important reminder that these conditions don’t just impact productivity – they directly affect safety. Crews working in and around active roadways, combined with heavy equipment and unpredictable traffic patterns, create situations where preparation and awareness matter just as much as compliance.

We often see challenges arise around load securement, driver qualification, and understanding when DOT requirements apply.  Especially when employees don’t consider themselves “drivers” in the traditional sense.  Add in oversize or overweight loads, and the complexity increases quickly. Permits, routing, and state-specific requirements can slow projects down if they’re not planned for in advance.

That’s where having the right support and visibility into your operation makes a difference. From managing specialty permits to keeping track of fleet assets and documentation, construction fleets benefit from systems that bring clarity to moving parts that are constantly changing.

At Lee Trans, we work alongside construction teams to help make sense of those requirements and support practical, real-world compliance solutions that don’t disrupt the job at hand. If you’re unsure where your operation stands, we’re always here as a resource.
