Today we celebrate Flag Day – the annual reminder of our grand old’s history, significance and heritage.
Today is also a good time to retire those flags that have become tattered. The National Flag Foundation has partnered with the National Sheriff’s Association and National Association of Counties to facilitate a flag disposal program, which ensures proper etiquette is followed and community partners like the Boy Scouts, Veterans groups and Sheriff’s departments collect and carry out retirement ceremonies.
